Brodie Huteson mixed and recorded Rufus Huff for a show at The Rudledge and brought the multi-tracks home to Thundershack where he and Bob Watkins will work their magic.
Klyd Watkins has recorded a new piece, layering his voice in a manner he used on early Poetry Out Loud records in the 70's. The piece is almost acapella, with percussion by David Adkins and guitar accents by Keith White of Stack, and additional vocals by his Poetry Out Loud and Solar Squash mates Ginny Tate and Linda Watkins. Eric Watkins has recorded nine new songs with John Wheeler producing. Those tracks are now here at Thundershack for elaborate re-mixing, etc. In addition to John, Bob Watkins, Cinjun Tate, and Katie Blankenship play and sing on the project. This may become Molding 4, or, as it is essentially a solo project, may come out under Eric's name.
We are tickled as can be to have Cinjun Tate (of Remy Zero and Spartan Fidelity) playing music with us. We have begun recording a Cinjun Tate solo EP. We are tracking the first tune, Nathalia. Since Cinjun is back and forth from Nashville to Birmingham, perhaps the Remy Zero guys are writing material as well, I speculate. He has added a harmony vocal to Eric's project, and with Bob, Eric and David Watkins has written and begun tracking a song for a possible new project (Of Solar Squash).
STACK IS HERE CD INFOEarly in 2006, in the same week, Rick White and Shellie Dolan both left Level, the band we at thundershack were recording with hopes of getting an act together. About that time Thousandfold had finished their CD, also recorded at Thundershack. One event had nothing to do with the other. The jam with Steve, Bob and Terry, who have been together, with the Wheelies and after, for fifteen years or so, and Keith White, guitarist, and Garrison, singer, with Thousandfold—that jam was naturally going to happen just for the fun of it. They were not looking to form a side project to Thousandfold, tho the thought may have grazed the back pastures of a few minds. Nevertheless, the first time they plugged in together they played one hour and forty-five minutes of wonderful on-the-spot-composed rock and roll. They have been recording at Thundershack ever since. Now working on a second CD. STACKPAGE

Mike Farris, Rick White, Steve Burgess, Terry Thomas and Bob Watkins signed with Atlantic Records in 1992. Their self titled first album The Screamin' Cheetah Wheelies features rock radio hits like "Shakin' The Blues" and "Ride The Tide." The band moved to Capricorn Records with their second major label release Magnolia, named by a major Spanish music magazine as one of the top ten records of the nineties. Big Wheel (Capricorn) was the last major label release by the Wheelies. Some fans believe it is their best. Independent releases Live Volumes 1 and 2 and Lamanamanumi (produced by Bob Watkins and Brodie Hutcheson) pleased thousands of hard core fans. In the fall of 2004 the Wheelies were the sensation of great European rock festival at Azkena, Spain. When they returned to the states they recorded Ten Miles High and broke up "for good." |

molding is a song based, alt rock band with a country/punk influence. Molding originated as a project to provide the best recordings we were capable of at the time for songs written within the Watkins household which, otherwise, had little prospects. These songs, too good to ignore and often too off the formulaic path to find a major label home, never stopped appearing, "like Mold," according to Eric. The three independent MOLDING CD's were recorded before Thundershack was built but we proudly offer them for sale here. We are re-mixing some Eric Watkins songs recorded by John Wheeler. By the beginning of 2008 these will be offered as the 4th MOLDING album or as an Eric Watkins solo CD.
